About
To mark the beginning of the next 50 titles in this wonderful series, we decided to throw caution to the wind and enter into the desperately complicated world of USAAF subjects.
Not only that, we decided to start with the most complicated of them all, the Consolidated B-24 Liberator, or the Consolidated Mess as it is nicknamed amongst authors!
Working mainly from the late Mike Bailey’s photo collection, our new author Dave Pratt has put together this superb set of images to hopefully simplify the story of the ‘D’ in 8th AF service for both modellers and historians alike. We’ve tried to make it as faithful to the WPA format as possible, with plenty of detail photos, and ABCs and arrows pointing out the various mods along the way.
Surprisingly (for us anyway), there were comparatively few ‘D’s that flew with the 8th AF, so you can see many airframes in this book in multiple photos, showing the development of their markings over time. This by itself, is fascinating to see.

As usual, we have 6 full colour profiles and about 120 photos with full captions througoht the 72 pages.
About the Author
David Pratt is a retired Police Officer who worked in number of varied roles across the UK, including working with the Armed Forces and within the world of aviation amongst other specialist fields.

Europe*
* For those living within the European Union, your genius politicians have decided to impose a tariff of 3EUR import duty on each item from 1 July 2026. This is beyond our control and will probably also result in you having to pay a collection fee to the courier company of up to 15 EUR. We strongly recommend that you purchase your books from a European based company like the Aviation Megastore in Amsterdam to avoid these charges.
